Under the new policy, Hong Kong residents can obtain a 5-year residency directly through a BNO visa, without relying on their employer as a guarantor to renew their visa.
Application Prerequisite
Holding a BNO identity – can be a valid or expired BNO passport (no renewal required)
Ordinary residents of Hong Kong
Have enough money to live in the UK for 6 months
Willingness to learn English
Passed a tuberculosis test and hold a valid certificate
Good character (whether you have any previous criminal record, bankruptcy or visa refusal record)
Permanent Residency Requirements:
Applicants must have resided in the UK for 5 consecutive years, during any consecutive 12-month period, and cannot leave the UK for more than 180 days
All persons aged 18-64 (based on the date of application for permanent residence) are required to pass the Life in the UK test, together with the relevant English requirements (IELTS Life Skills B1 Test) or proof of university degree taught in English
Application Requirements:
Applicants who need to live for an additional year after obtaining permanent residency can apply for naturalization in the 6th year
Applicants cannot leave the UK for more than 450 days in the 5 years prior to naturalisation and cannot leave the UK for more than 90 days in the 12 months prior to application

Application Procedure
Before 31 January 2021, you can use Leave Outside the Rules (LOTR) to go to the UK in advance to find a job and find a school for a period of 6 months.
Later, apply for the “Hong Kong BN(O) Visa” (Hong Kong BN(O) Visa) and obtain the right of residence in the UK for 5 years, during which time you can work and study.
Citizenship (BRITISH Citizenship, BC) after 5 years of residence and 1 more year of residence and through Life in the UK.
