Hong Kong Imported Mainland Talent Scheme (CST)

Program Introduction

The Hong Kong Import Mainland Talent Scheme aims to attract some professionals with the special skills, knowledge or experience required but lacking in the HKSAR to apply for work in Hong Kong, so as to meet the needs of Hong Kong talents and enhance the competitiveness of the HKSAR in the international market; The imported talents must be able to contribute to the day-to-day operations of local enterprises and related industries to promote the economic prosperity of the HKSAR. After 7 years of working or living, you can apply to become a Hong Kong permanent resident.

Application Prerequisite

Be at least 18 years old
Applicants with a good educational background, a bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant field, good technical qualifications, proven professional competence and/or documented experience and achievements;
The applicant must have been employed by a Hong Kong employer and the work performed must be related to his or her academic qualifications or work experience;
Remuneration and benefits (including income, housing, medical and other incidental benefits) must be substantially the same as the market remuneration and benefits of Hong Kong professionals at the time;
It is necessary to have the professional skills required for Hong Kong’s economic development and be employed by a Hong Kong company (employer).
You must have been employed by a Hong Kong enterprise before coming to Hong Kong.
No bad entry records or criminal records
Bachelor’s degree or above, or good professional skills
Good Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) or English proficiency.

Required application forms/documents

Application Form for Employment in Hong Kong for Professionals (ID990A)
Recent photograph of the applicant (recent photograph has been posted on page 2 of the application form (ID990A))
A photocopy of the applicant’s valid travel document must contain personal data, date of issue, expiry date and/or details of any visa held that is revertable to the place of origin.
Photocopy of the applicant’s Hong Kong Identity Card (if any)
Photocopy of academic qualifications and relevant work experience certificates
Consent to work in Hong Kong issued by the applicant’s current work unit or the relevant mainland authorities

Upon receipt of all required documents, it usually takes four weeks for the Immigration Department to process applications for entry permits for employment in Hong Kong under the Import mainland talent scheme
