Hong Kong Technology Talent Entry Scheme

Program Introduction

To fill the talent shortage and nurture local talent, the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Bureau has launched the Technology Talent Entry Scheme. The three-year programme aims to import overseas and Mainland technology talent to eligible companies/organisations through expedited arrangements. The scheme does not need to prove the shortage of talent on a case-by-case basis, thus simplifying the entry application process and shortening the time for applying for a work visa.

Application Prerequisite

A full-time employee employed by the applicant company working in Hong Kong
Mainly engaged in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, network security, data analysis, financial technology, materials science, robotics technology, 5G communications, digital entertainment, green technology, integrated circuit design, Internet of Things or microelectronics research and development work
Holders of a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (“STEM”) from a recognised university (no work experience is required for holders of a master’s or doctoral degree, while a bachelor’s degree holder must have at least 1 year of work experience in the relevant technology field)
Their remuneration shall not be less than the current market remuneration level of similar positions in Hong Kong

Project Advantages

The application process is simple, and after receiving all the required documents, the quota application usually takes only two weeks to process

Applicable Personnel

Non-local technology talents, mainly engaged in research and development in specific scientific and technological fields

(R&D work in the areas of artificial intelligence, biotechnology, cybersecurity, data analytics, fintech, materials science, robotics, 5G communications, digital entertainment, green technology, integrated circuit design, Internet of Things or microelectronics)

Family Members

Spouses or their same-sex civil partnerships concluded under the laws in force of the place (the status is legally and officially recognized by the local authorities)
Unmarried adopted children under the age of 18

Applying for a Work Visa for an Eligible Person (Application to the Immigration Department)
Grant a work visa
