City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is an English-language public research university in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was founded in 1984 as City Polytechnic of Hong Kong and became a fully accredited university in 1994.
CityU, located in the heart of Hong Kong , has a well-earned reputation as an innovative hub for research and professional education and for addressing global issues and empowering positive change.
CityU has joined the National University Entrance Examination (NUEE) scheme of mainland China 全国普通高等学校统一招生计划（统招）since 2005 for the recruitment of Gaokao 高考 students. Mainland high school students who are pursuing a Gaokao curriculum must apply for admission via the NUEE 统招 route. Direct applications will not be considered.
