Located in the northeast of the Balkan Peninsula, Romania has an area of 238,400 square kilometers, making it the twelfth largest country in Europe by area, bordering Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary. Romania is bordered by the Black Sea and has a 245 km long coastline. Romania can be divided into four major regions: Dobroga, Moldavia, Wallachia and Transsivania, and most of the country is mountainous.
